| Kap Textile Holdings SA Limited is the holding company of Saprotex International (Pty) and Yarntex (Pty) Ltd, both companies manufacture acrylic and natural fibre based hand knitting and industrial yarns.
LOCATION
Saprotex/Yarntex is situated in Fort Jackson Industrial Estate, ±35km outside of East London in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Saprotex International a spinner of high quality hand knitting yarns. We are the largest spinners in Africa, as well as being one of the largest spinners in the world. Ours brands, namely ELLE, FIESTA and MIRAGE are firmly entrenched both locally and internationally and cover the total spectrum of the hand knitting market, from top end fancy yarns to budget acrylic yarns. The range includes acrylic, wool/acrylic blends, acrylic/viscose, 100% wool, 100% cotton, cotton/draylon blends, mohair and mohair blends. We enjoy a large pattern library to back up our yarns with a large Design Studio to facilitate all aspects of development, design, pattern writing and pattern production.
Currently we export to the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Mauritius and all bordering African States. Saprotex International is also represented annually at trade shows both locally and internationally.
Nine years ago we became involved in an adult education program teaching unemployed people to knit; this program has resulted in approximately 400 people being given a new skill as well as six new knitting teachers being transplanted into other areas to duplicate the program. This teaching program has resulted in a group being formed where the members knit for profit. This group knits for the UK and American market. For many of the group, this is a sole source of income.
